Hannibal, Missouri, July 2, 2014 (McKenzieNewsService.com) – Bluff City Theater (www.bluffcitytheater.com) has announced that actor, comedian and playwright Darrell Dennis will be playing the role he created in Tales of an Urban Indian, July 9th through August 10th, Hannibal, MO.

Tales of an Urban Indian is the semi-autobiographical story of Simon Douglas, a contemporary Native male born on a reserve in British Columbia and raised both on the reserve and in the city of Vancouver, Canada. Told entirely from a personal perspective, Tales of an Urban Indian presents an array of characters that come in and out of Simon’s life as seen through Simon’s eyes, all created by one actor.

For over two decades, Darrell has been at the forefront of Native theater. “Tales” was nominated for two Dora Awards. The feature film adaptation of “Tales” was work-shopped at the Sundance Screenwriters Lab and aired on APTN. A television pilot based on “Tales” was also produced and Darrell recently gave a special performance of the play at the legendary Public Theater in New York City.

At present, Darrell is writing a book while he continues to perform stand up in venues all over L.A. In his spare time he is developing a TV series, a TV movie, a feature film, a web series, and a U.S. radio program.

Tickets are $24.75 each. Show times are Wednesday to Sunday, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
