Bluff City Theater Presents Ed Asner in A Man and His Prostate

Ed Asner has a long and storied career on television and on film with 20 Emmy nominations and 7 wins.  Best known for his portrayal of Lou Grant, he is the only person to have played the same role in both a comedy (The Mary Tyler Moore Show) and a drama (The Lou Grant Show).  Now you can see him live, in person, on stage right here in Hannibal, Missouri.  At 88 years of age, Ed Asner shows no sign of slowing down while he tours his hilarious one-man staged reading of a play by his long-time friend and collaborator Ed Weinberg called A Man and His Prostate.

Based on a real-life experience, A Man and His Prostate tells the story of a man who develops the signs of prostate cancer while on holiday in Italy.  Hampered by language and health, Asner’s character encounters a string of situations and circumstances that translate into side-splitting anecdotes delivered with the masterful comedic timing that is Ed Asner’s hallmark.  But it’s not just a comedy, as A Man and His Prostate also shines a light on one of the leading causes of death among American men.  A Man and His Prostate is described as a seriously funny play about a seriously unfunny situation.
