Veteran St. Louis Actors Headline Gertrude Stein and a Companion!
Award-winning director John Contini will bring his vision to Bluff City Theater beginning tomorrow when the curtain rises on Win Well’s masterpiece. Winner of Best Play when it premiered at the Edinburgh Festival, Gertrude Stein and a Companion went on to win multiple awards around the globe.
Spanning 60 years, the play examines the complex relationship between Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas and the unending parade of literary and artistic luminaries that came through their lives and salon at 27 Rue de Fleurus. Widely recognized as one of the most successful literary partnerships of all time, Stein and Toklas were as famous in their day as Mark Twain was in his.
Gertrude Stein and a Companion is witty and poignant. The chemistry between Laura Ackermann as Gertrude and Susie as Alice Toklas will draw audiences in and leave them wanting more.
