It’s the Final Week to catch Laura Ackermann and Susie Wall in Gertrude Stein and a Companion!

Audiences have been raving about this sensitive and moving portrayal of one of America’s most important and influential literary partnerships ever.  If you love good theater, you owe it to yourself to come see Gertrude Stein and a Companion now in its final week at Bluff City Theater.

How is it that two people, women, could somehow become the defining icons of an entire era of creative endeavor? Paris in the Avant-Garde era was the center of the creative world  and Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas were at the center of Paris.

From their salon in 27 Rue de Fleurus, Stein and Toklas presided over one of the most creative and influential groups of artists and writers in history.  Ernest Hemingway, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse and countless others passed through their salon.  For more than 30 years, an unimaginably fabulous collection of modern art hung on their walls amid the valueless collection of “things” that defined Gertrude Stein while she penned her best-known works.

The play runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee on Saturday at 2 p.m.  Tickets are $25 each or a 4-ticket Flex Pass good for any performance in our 2016 Season is just $89.  Call the box office at 573-719-3226 or book online.

This production is made possible through a generous contribution from Dr. Michael and Sharon Bukstein.
